Caring for ourselves, our loved ones and each other.

At the Root

Parent CARE is a 12 week, science based, social emotional curriculum for parents and guardians that is rooted in the conviction that we can increase the well-being of our youth through:

  • Strengthening a sense of community among parents and caregivers
  • Deepening our own sense of safety and belonging
  • Growing our confidence and competence with emotions (ours and our loved ones)
  • Improving our interpersonal relationship and communication skills
  • Increasing our own mindfulness and compassion skills

Digging Deeper

The series is structured through the framework of the “ME, YOU and WE” of relationship building. In each session we will learn:

  • Relational mindfulness practices

  • The science of emotions and behavior underlying emotions in ourselves and our loved ones

  • What is going on “under the hood” of ourselves, our children and our loved ones so we can respond in more intentional and compassionate ways

  • Ways to parent from our deepest values rather than our greatest fears

  • Ways to deepen our sense of belonging and community

Parent CARE for Individuals

Stay tuned for the next Parent CARE offerings.

  • Weekly classes led by a trained facilitator

  • Weekly meditations based on the topic of the week

  • Small breakout group discussion groups

  • Regular practices for deepening in community together

  • An online community to share ongoing learnings and to develop deeper relationships

Testimonials

“I learned a better way of interacting with my children”

“Our current paradigm for caring for those around us is not sustainable. We often drain ourselves as we care, especially as parents. But there is another model of care and compassion that can nourishment and this course teaches you how to make that shift.”

“I describe it as “filling up my love tank”. As parents and/or partners we often feel we are always giving and it feels exhausting and can lead to frustration and anger. This course gave me the tools to begin to slow down and start to receive care.”

“It's not group therapy; it's not a "woo-woo" session. It's a very simple, real and scientifically backed approach to identifying and practicing sustainable and "shareable" awareness, connection, and a rejuvenating life perspective. It's guided in a grounded, yes-we-are-all-human way with humor sprinkled in allowing everyone to give and take away whatever feels appropriate for them. Not only did this class spark my awareness and desire to continue practicing the key elements of care it teaches, I also came away feeling inspired and connected to a wonderful group of people I may not have otherwise known. I can't imagine anyone not benefiting from this! “

“I've been a parent for over two decades and read many parenting books and attended many lectures. Nothing I have ever done before was as useful to me as this class. I can't thank you enough. I wish I'd taken this class 20 years ago!”

“I learned how to connect with my self, slow down and notice the little things that I am grateful for. I learned to notice that I have everything I need and how to fill myself up. I learned to connect with others and the world around me without dependency on them. I learned to give in a way that filled me up.”
